Terms and Conditions
By starting lessons you accept the terms and conditions laid out below and they form a contract between the pupil and McCormick School of Motoring
1. DRIVING LICENCE:
Before you can drive you must be 17 or older and you must hold a UK provisional driving licence.
2. APPROVED DRIVING INSTRUCTOR:
Your instructor will be registered with the Driving standards Agency and licensed to give paid instruction.
3. PAYMENT:
Lesson payment is to be made at the start of each lesson, unless by prior arrangement by block booking and can be made online through paypal on the prices page of our website, cash or cheque (no cheques will be accepted from persons under 18) all cheques are to be payable to McCormick School of Motoring.
Any cheques presented for payment which are subsequently refused by the bank will be subject to an administration charge of �15.
4. CANCELLATION OF LESSONS:
All 1 hour and 2 hour lessons require a minimum 48 hours notice of cancellation, all intensive courses require a minimum of 3 weeks notice of cancellation, by either the pupil or the instructor.
Gift certificates and Block bookings are valid for six months from the date of purchase, if the lessons are not used in this time they expire, and monies are not refundable.
If a pupil does not give the required notice stated above then the full lesson rate is payable by the pupil.
If McCormick School of Motoring cancels a lesson without giving the required notice then a free lesson for the number of hours cancelled will be given by the instructor. This does not apply in unforseen circumstances beyond the control of the instructor - for example (but not limited to) mechanical failure, severe weather, traffic conditions.
If in the view of the instructor the pupil is unfit/illegal to drive through self induced circumstances (eg alcohol or drugs) then the instructor will cancel the lesson and the pupil will have to pay the full lesson rate.
5. DRIVING TEST:
The instructor will advise you when you are ready to apply for your test, taking into account local waiting times. The instructor will always make the booking on your behalf to avoid double booking tests with other pupils. McCormick School of Motoring cannot accept any liability for test fees lost to the DVA because of tests booked directy by a pupil which may clash with existing tests.
The instructor will not make any driving test bookings until he/she has received the test fee from the pupil.
We will allow you to use our training vehicle with our instructors consent. Please note that in the interest of public safety, our instructor reserves the right to withdraw our vehicle without notice if the instructor feels it would be unsafe to allow you to take the test.
In the event of mechanical failure on the day of the test, prior to the test taking place, we will try to arrange a different car. If this is not possible and you are not able to take your test then your instructor will arrange to pay for another test for you. This is the limit of the instructors liability.
Your instructor cannot be held responsible for vehicle failure during the test and is not liable for consequential loss.
Your instructor cannot be made responsible for test appointments cancelled by the DVA, due to severe weather, sickness, staff shortages or other reasons. Such cancellations are beyond the control of your instructor and therefore the full lesson fee for the time booked will be charged to the pupil. Your instructor will advise about claiming compensation from the DVA.
6. TRAINING VEHICLE:
Vehicles provided by McCormick School of Motoring are taxed, insured for the purposes of driving tuition and driving test when accompanied by a Approved Driving Instructor or approved DVA examiner,fully road worthy and fitted with dual controls.
7. MOBILE PHONES:
All pupils must switch off their mobile phones prior to entering the training vehicle for safety reasons.
8. PERSONAL PROPERTY:
McCormick School of Motoring accepts no liability for personal property left in any training vehicle.
9. TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
McCormick School of Motoring reserve the right to change these terms and conditions at any time without notice
